電影的社會實踐Film As Social Practice
Movies are not merely a dream factory that provides moments of visual pleasure to be consumed. Neither are they merely an art form to be appreciated aesthetically. They are also a form of social practice that conveys and construct meanings. This course selects 16 films to discuss important social issues of our age, such as gender, race, nation, and the city. Students will do close analysis of the films and read articles about them. Those who intend to take this course are encouraged to read Film As Social Practice by Grayme Turner (or my translation 《電影的社會實踐》遠流出版)in the winter. Films to be discussed will include:
