課程說明 |
This course will begin with a brief overview of how film evolved since the late nineteenth century as a complex of styles, technologies, and viewing practices. However, our topic is not film history in the usual sense. Rather, we treat film’s relationship to history, and we do this in two ways: (a) how history films construct popular knowledge of the past and how that knowledge changes over time; (b) how films can be used to understand the historical context of their production and viewing. The history we consider will be American, and the films we will see were made in the United States after World War II. |
